From Stephen Morach, Rotary Foundation Chairman
I would like to thank all the members who have contributed to the Rotary Foundation.

As a result of last year's contributions, the Stanwood/Camano Rotary club is currently ranked 2nd in the District for Annual giving per capita at over $250 per member. If we can stay in the top 3 clubs per capita, we can receive a club recognition banner from the District. Since July 1st, we have contributed over $10,000 to the Annual Giving Fund and $2,000 to Polio Plus.

We currently have 22 sustaining members who have given $100 or more to the Foundation this term. Also, 26 active members have received the Paul Harris award during their time in Rotary. Due to our club's generosity, we have a unique opportunity.

Rotary clubs in which 100% of all dues-paying members are Paul Harris Fellows are eligible to receive special recognition from the Rotary Foundation. Qualifying clubs will receive a special club recognition banner, and the club name will be engraved on a plaque in The Rotary Foundation Hall of Honor at Rotary International World Headquarters.

No Rotary club in District 5050 or in the State of Washington has ever achieved this accomplishment.

Recognition is great, but I think it is important to remember that the contributions we make as Rotarians help to make a difference in the world. We give to the Foundation out of our love for the work that it does in helping people to better their lives. But, we also give because we know that our Foundation stands behind Rotarian ethics of honesty, responsibility, and trustworthiness. We know that the money entrusted to the Foundation will bring help and hope to those who need it most. We help provide clean water, food, health care, education and a better standard of living to people in difficult positions around the world.

Donations to the Foundation are voluntary and not everyone is in a position to donate $1000. But, there are ways to set up systematic contributions to the Foundation from a checking account or with a credit card. For as little as $8.50 per month or less than $0.29 per day, you can become a sustaining member to the Foundation. If you would prefer not to set up a systematic contribution program, you may also do one time credit card contributions online through the Rotary website www.Rotary.org or you can send in a form to authorize the donation. See Steve Morach for details and forms.
