Stanwood Elementary students were recognized as "Rotary Students of the Month " at the November 9, 2005 meeting the Stanwood Rotary Club. Jacob Campbell and Breanna Hansen were selected as students of the month based on their academic excellence, leadership and contributions to community service.
Jacob Campbell, a 5th grader in Mrs. Miller's class has attended Stanwood Elementary since kindergarten. Jacob's parents are Jim and Joan Campbell; he has two sisters Whitney and Chelsea who attend Stanwood High School. Jacob's favorite activities are football, baseball and basketball. In his speech to the Rotary Club, Jacob noted that school work always comes first and his favorite subjects are math, reading and P.E. Jacob plans for the future are to either attend the University of Washington or the University of Arkansas (which is where his dad attended)./////////////////// Breanna Hansen is a 5th grader in Mrs. Miller's class. She has attended Stanwood Elementary since kindergarten. Breanna's parents are Debra and Ralph Hansen. Breanna is active in her school as a crossing guard, working at the school store, as a peer tutor for special needs preschool children and as a Peacemaker on the playground. The Peacemaker group helps out at recesses with conflict mediation and routinely give up their own time for training and assisting the younger children. She also actively participates in her church youth club. Breanna's hope for the future is become a Mobile Veterinarian.
