Rod Thomson's newspaper career has spanned more than 32 years beginning with the daily Columbian newspaper in 1972. During that time he has worked at daily newspapers, community newspapers and for two years with MacLean Hunter in specialty magazine publications including Pacific Yachting. He was appointed to his current position as publisher of the Abbotsford Times in July 1989. Mr. Thomson is an active member in community affairs having served with the Abbotsford Chamber of Commerce as a director, and the Abbotsford Community Safety Society as president. He was Director of Promotions for the Abbotsford 2002 BC Disability Games, a position he also held for the 1995 Western Canada Summer Games. In July of 2004 he was entertainment chair for the 2004 BC Summer Games in Abbotsford. Mr. Thomson is currently a member of the Rotary Club of Abbotsford having served as a director for several years and president for the 1997-98 year. Mr. Thomson is a Paul Harris Fellows
